Pipescan HD MFL Pipeline Corrosion Mapping System

Cost-Effective Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) Pipe Screening System
Read More

The Pipescan™ HD solution is designed to maximize speed, reliability and confidence for detection of defects such as corrosion and pittings in ferrous pipes and surfaces.

The latest mechanical designs enables covering all pipe diameters 48 mm (1.9 in) to flat surfaces with a selection of scanner heads. Furthermore, all scanned data is automatically recorded and reports can be issued on the spot, giving asset owners immediate visibility on the health condition of their assets, enhancing productivity and efficiency.

  • Speed: Scanning, data analysis, and reporting in one quick workflow
  • Highest resolution on the market offering easy to understand C-scan imaging
  • High-probability of corrosion detection with defects down to 1 mm (0.04 in) identified
  • Simple in-service deployment: No couplant and minimal surface preparation required
  • Easy to operate with minimum training required
  • Flexible heads fit a full range of pipe and vessel sizes
  • Full data recording with adjustable reporting threshold feature

In-Service Inspection

MFL inspection is unaffected by product flowing through pipes, therefore surveys can be performed in or out of service, at surface temperatures up to 60 °C (140 °F). Using Pipescan HD, with its high probability of detection (PoD) to locate corrosion and ultrasonic validation, provides a cost-effective, accurate system to determine plant integrity.

MFL Control Module

The easy-to-use Pipescan HD system consists of a scanner head and a rechargeable battery-powered portable MFL control module that supplies up to eight hours of operation. The same control module can be used with the Handscan MFL floor scanner. The control module features audible and visual alarms to alert operators to the presence of corrosion during scans. Alarm sensitivity is adjustable, making it possible for operators to calibrate Pipescan HD to detect corrosion above the defined reporting level, but ignore low-level, irrelevant corrosion signals.

How It Works

Pipescan HD deployment is easy with the unique single curvature adjustment tool allowing for a quick inspection setup. No couplant or complicated gate settings are required, connect the Pipescan HD to the data acquisition instrument, enter inspection details, and the system is ready to go.

Any area identified by Pipescan HD can be marked on the pipe for further analysis using a secondary inspection technique, usually ultrasonic testing. For detailed corrosion mapping, we recommend RMS2 and Thetascan.
