Custom Robotics with Nick Trevean at AOG 2023
Nexxis R&D technical expert, Nick Trevean, discusses the importance of custom robotics in today’s NDT industry. He talks about the requirement for an application to be modular and agile, allowing it to quickly be modified to target a wide range of inspection needs.
The central model, or platform, such as the Powertrain, allows solutions to easily be constructed to address issues, such as differing pipe diameters and payloads. But, going further than this, the importance of proactive inspections. Historically, complex situations and lengthy asset shutdowns meant such an approach wasn’t financially viable. But today, with quickly deployed robotic tools removing the need to make areas safe for human entry, monitoring and maintenance is the solution to preventing critical, expensive and potentially hazardous issues from occurring in the first place.
He talks about how the Nexxis focus on modular robotic platforms is key, allowing the company to push the boundaries of inspection limits in a way that, before now, simply wasn’t possible.

Jason De Silveira, founder and CEO of Nexxis Technology, has always had a sharp focus on robotics, education, and real-world solutions. Throughout his career, he’s stayed committed to pushing the boundaries of robotics and helping industries strengthen their approach to asset integrity and robotic inspection.
With a background in operations, commissioning, and start-ups of new facilities, Jason leads Nexxis with a hands-on understanding of what real projects demand. Under his leadership, Nexxis has become known for developing innovative robotic systems that deliver better data, boost safety, and take the risks out of confined space and working-at-height inspections.
What makes Jason stand out? A passion for innovation, a proven ability to bring people together, and a genuine drive to help clients get the right solution — not just an off-the-shelf fix. With a strong focus on customisation and future-ready technology, he’s helping to shape the next generation of robotics.
