Nexxis Showcases OEM & Advanced Robotic Breakthroughs at the 20th WCNDT
The 2024 World Conference on Non-Destructive Testing is an industry highlight where professionals from across the globe can gather, network and discover the latest innovative testing solutions. The 2024 event was even more eagerly attended as pandemic delays meant it hadn’t taken place for many years.
Nexxis was delighted to attend and co-exhibit some of the latest cutting-edge products in conjunction with Dolphitech, the creator of one of the most innovative NDT ultrasonic testing platforms on the market today.
The event took place in Incheon, South Korea, from 27-31 May 2024. Nexxis’s founding CEO, Jason de Silveria and the Global BDM, Liam Hanna, took a range of products to the Asian hub of technology to showcase to experts from industries in every field.
Snowcat Technology Unzipped – and Proving the Versatility of Robotic Innovation
Four strategic products were taken to the South Korean show: the Snowcat Crawler, vertical inspection platform – VETOL, the 4K Zenith System and the agnostic system Juicebox Controller.
It’s hard to say which of the four products was most well-received. The robust agility of the Snowcat wowed even the most hardened industry experts with its versatility – something that was further showcased in a totally unplanned event during which the Nexxis team successfully mounted new probes and acquisition devices onto the platform in just 10 minutes. Finding solutions to virtually every inspection challenge is at the heart of the Nexxis blueprint – the team was delighted for the opportunity to demonstrate this flagship product to industry experts in real-time.
Snowcat is revolutionising the inspection process across industries as varied as mining, marine, utilities, oil & gas, power generation and more. Some of the standout highlights of this multifaceted crawler include:
- 360-degree continuous tilt camera.
- Full 1080p video.
- 10X optical and 12X digital zoom.
- Optional variable intensity LED spot and flood lights.
- Parallel laser lines for full on-screen size estimation.
Snowcat’s customisation options are almost limitless. From the choice of camera to extra-long tethers, plus image enhancement systems and the latest advanced reporting software that seamlessly collates and shares data, Snowcat brings the future of proactive steel structure inspection to today’s inspection landscape.
But Snowcat wasn’t the only star of the show. VETOL a vertical pipeline crawler that can be integrated with numerous payloads also shone. With modular configuration and Nexxis-designed software, this robotic crawler provides an inspection solution that streamlines historically lengthy processes. Not only does VETOL dramatically simplify the physical action of inspection, but it also captures data in the greatest of detail, logging it as it does so and automatically integrating all this information into a final video report.
And then… There’s Zenith… This 4K vertical inspection camera was extremely well-received and offers the ultimate solution to many inspection challenges. With a 500+ foot drop capability, the camera also solves multiple drop configurations, allowing it to be suspended from virtually every imaginable angle. As with all of the Nexxis inspection tools, Zenith sports the ultimate image and video capture capabilities, is designed to carry a substantial payload and offers intuitive, simple-to-use controller operation.
Juicebox completed the run-up – and was considered the perfect complement to the three inspection platforms. A fully customisable system that has multiple uses – from simply controlling an inspection camera to full integration with 3D SLAM digital twins and manipulators.
