Cygnus FMD System (Ultrasonic Flooded Member Detector)

Remove uncertainty from subsea structural inspections. The Cygnus FMD Ultrasonic Flooded Member Detector delivers clear, reliable DRY or FLOODED results for divers and ROVs.

Determining whether a subsea structural member is flooded or dry can be time-consuming and uncertain. The Cygnus FMD Ultrasonic Flooded Member Detector is designed to eliminate that guesswork.

Built for diver or ROV deployment, the system performs a fast flooded member detection test and delivers a clear DRY (green) or FLOODED (red) result at the surface. Advanced signal processing, peak detection and low-noise data acquisition work together to achieve a high Probability of Detection while minimising false readings.

A self-aligning probe handler ensures correct contact with the structure, regardless of approach angle. Measurements are only taken once proper alignment is confirmed, and any loss of contact is immediately shown in the surface software. Results are automatically logged and exported to PDF or Excel for reporting and analysis.

Compact, rugged and easy to use, the Cygnus FMD system is well suited to hard-to-reach areas such as K-nodes and complex subsea structures where traditional inspection methods fall short. Its failsafe design and straightforward operation make it a cost-effective solution for owners and operators, without relying on specialist contractors.

Applications

  • Flooded member detection surveys

  • Offshore structural inspections

  • Hard-to-reach braces and K-nodes

  • Diver- or ROV-deployed subsea inspections
