Nexxis USA: A Fruitful Year in the Land of Opportunity
The US arm of Nexxis is going from strength to strength, with 2024 already hitting some notable highlights.
One of these was the very successful visit to the Sprint Robotics Inspection & Maintenance Forum, held at the Petrobras Cenpes Convention Centre in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. General Manager, Sam Perez, led the team and – in true innovative style, showcased some of the company’s most advanced robotic NDT tools to leading South American industry professionals.
The Sprint Robotics Rio Event
This year’s event was an exciting one for Nexxis. The company held the unique position of being the only multi-national robotics OEM on display. Sam took four of the company’s novel creations across, namely:
- Snowcat: The powerful crawler with a 360-degree continuous tilt camera that’s broken every boundary of advanced, remote tank inspection.
- Panther: A fully modular pipe crawler that can be used to inspect pretty much any pipeline or confined space application.
- VETOL: A unique vertical pipeline inspection tool that integrates a wide array of payloads.
- Juicebox: A multi-functional, fully customisable, controller platform that can be used with a wide range of inspection technology.
In addition to demonstrating the capabilities of these cutting-edge products to the South American market – an important marketing opportunity – it also gave Sam the chance to learn more about the state-run companies, Petrobras and Electrobras. The event was held at their campus, thus was a valuable networking event, as well as a personal insight into how Brazil prioritises and funds home-grown tech and startups
Sam spent a good deal of time discussing floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) inspection, maintenance and repairs – and how the burgeoning robotics industry is streamlining and improving such tasks in South America.
Interestingly, it appears that Nexxis innovation and advancement align favourably with the roadmaps that Petrobras has already set in place.
Of course, there were many other global names present, including DOW Chemical, Senai, SBM Offshore, Equinor and Shell Oil.
Introducing the Nexxis U.S. Team
Nexxis USA is based in Houston, Texas. With a huge amount on experience delivering remote operated vehicle (ROV) technology along the Gulf Coast, Sam is the ideal person to lead the team. The office was opened in 2019 and has made considerable market impact since its inauguration.
The push into the South American market, as well as further across the USA, is already well underway and holds considerable potential for Nexxis.
Sam has recently been joined by two more talented professionals, EJ and Josh. Both are Technical Solution Specialists, working directly with clients to provide cutting-edge NDT solutions. As proven sales professionals with a strong technical background, they wanted to make a strategic move into the area of advanced, robotic-driven NDT – something that was an important hiring consideration. Josh also has a Business Degree from A M Texas University.
Their roles include further development of new business, as well as being the ‘face of Nexxis’ at trade shows, demos and company events.
