Confined Space Entry & Underwater Inspection Made Easy: Troy Smith Showcases the Nexxis Difference

Confined space entry and underwater inspections have long been a headache for inspection and maintenance teams. Removing the human aspect from the equation to both reduce risk and speed up the process is the key that drives the Nexxis model. Listen as Troy Smith, the company’s Ops Director, speaks about some of the innovative solutions that are revolutionising the face of NDT.

These include cutting-edge UAV technology, with advanced platforms removing the need for scaffolding and/or rope access, as well as providing clear visuals in dark, dusty conditions.

Other technologies on offer are the latest in robotic crawler technology for underwater inspections. The advantages of inspection and testing of below-the-surface vessels without the requirement for divers to enter the water needs no introduction, with trials involving a tugboat proving incredibly successful. While this example utilised a crawler equipped with a UT system, the potential for this to be used with different testing tech and for other submerged assets is virtually endless.
